Mistaken
Mistaken
The Mistaken Ibis. I was told not to paint them, “nobody will want an Ibis on their wall.”
So, I painted more than one, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. They’re the square pegs in the round hole kind of birds.
They are awkward, nervous, sometimes dirty and flighty. We took over their environment, yet we treat them like they shouldn’t here.
I will always recognise the ones who feel out of place. Because I remember what that feels like in this big wide world, and I believe the beauty of the Ibis needs to be recognised.
